Peterson's Cay

Today we had a brilliant day as Luke and Zoe took us on their boat to a teeny tiny island called Peterson's Cay.  We drove down to Barbary beach and they came and ferried us over.  When we were invited I requested a school of dolphins along the way and my wish was granted. Apparently, it was one of the largest they had seen in their time here, about 15 dolphins.  We got loads of videos and a few people went in to swim with them.  It was brilliant, I just love dolphins.  Well, that was clearly a good omen for the rest of the day.  It was truly beautiful and we had a wonderful time.

I am a little more tender than I hoped to be but besides that an amazing day.

Luis Birthday Party

We left the beach to come home and prepare for Luis's small birthday party.  We had such a nice night.  Again, Alison and Simon were amazing.  They helped with so much, Alison also made the best birthday cake I have ever seen.

Sebastian and Axel

The guests

It was just so perfect.  I did not know what she was making but it was exactly him.  And it did not only look good but it was also delicious.

Everyone seemed to have a good time and most importantly Luis did.  And today we ended the weekend with a birthday lunch.   Another year is done and dusted :)

Luis' Birthday Morning

We got up early on Luis's birthday and headed to Banana Bay for a morning picnic and swim.  It is amazing there, the water is stunning and it is so perfect for kids.

Sebastian and Alison made this fabulous card for Luis.  He was so moved, it is quite special and I was slightly jealous I did not think of it!

A great start to the birthday.

Birth Weekend Begins

Birth weekend started on Friday night (I have managed to get Luis from birth week to weekend :)).  Alison and Simon were super wonderful and babysat Sebastian so that we could go out for dinner.  We went to a restaurant called Pier One that is on the West side of the island and an area we have yet to visit.  We had a lovely time, we could even see sharks swimming from our table.   There were so many of them, I just hope they stay there and away from our beach.

When we got home Luis had to tutor for two hours and I secretly made a macaroni pie for his birthday.  I have to say it was fantastic!

Busy Week

Time has just flown by.  The week has gone very quickly and in four hours we will start our half term break. Usually, we would be off exploring on some adventure but of course, this year is different.  But I am not complaining, we need a break.  It has been such a whirlwind for the last six months.  Not knowing if we could go back to Thailand and dealing with the sadness about leaving our life and Lola behind with no goodbyes.  Then the struggle to find our way to our new home in the Bahamas and somehow get Lola.  I think we then assumed it would be smooth sailing but it has not been. It has been a rough start to our new life here.  It is a global pandemic, what is easy?!  But we are feeling stronger and happier and I imagine after a relaxing week, of hopefully limited stress, we will feel even better to return to work face to face with kiddies.

Lola is getting stronger, and adapting to life more and more every day.  This morning she ran down the beach with such enthusiasm that I almost cried.
Sebastian adores her and she has taken to wanting to sleep with him

Sebastian just comes out with the sweetest things every day and well how could you not adore him!
And operation baby jail has been completed!  Tonight starts Luis's birthday, always more than a day for this event!  A good week ahead, I can feel it.

Rainy Weekends

I know from Barbados that October is pretty much the wettest month of the year.  What I am not so happy about is that it seems to be consistently wet on the weekend.  And this weekend was no exception.  We had lots of day plans but all got put off due to downpours and thunderstorms.  On Saturday night we had supper at Alison and Simon's, Alison did an amazing job with a superb Chinese.  Sunday, we spent the day a little miserable and wishing the sun was shining!

Went to a small cafe Saturday, a nice spot with some wonderful owners.

I think Sebastian looks so old here! Well beyond 14 months anyways.

Some shots of the kiddies.  Lola is still very disorientated and like Mum and Dad missing Thailand.

That brings us to Monday and the last week before half term.  When we go back to school it will be with real-life in-person students.  It has been a very long time since I have done that, hopefully, I remember how!

Sebastian and Axel

We are trying very hard to make Axel and Sebastian best friends. For starters there seem to be no other babies around his age on the island and trust me I have looked.  Secondly, we love the parents, so this works out well and lastly, Axel is a very cool kiddo.  Yesterday evening we had them all over for a swim and dinner (possibly the worst meal I have ever cooked!).  It is just so fabulous to see Sebastian playing and such an added bonus that we get on so well with Emilo and Nakita.

First some random shots of the kids who are getting on very well.

Sebastian sharing his stars, although it might look like he is force-feeding his friend.

A great Friday evening and we are super happy to have made these friends.
