Bears and Butterflys

Yesterday was not all about the waterfalls we did see a few other things along the way.  We visited the bear rescue centre and then the butterfly sanctuary.  Also the drive there was just lovely through the Laos countryside.

Sebastian checking out the butterflys, basically trying to grab it

The bears were pretty amazing, the rescue centre takes them from places using them for tourism in attempts to release them back to the wild.

Beautiful countryside, loads of lovely colours and villages we went through.  Altogether a great day out.

Kuangsi Waterfall Park

If you google these falls they look stunning but in no way whatsoever do the pictures you will find or see here do these falls justice.  I have never seen anything more magical in my life.  We took at least 200 photos and it was very hard to narrow it down to these ones.

These pictures only capture a little bit of the magic, they were truly amazing.  I only wish I had gone in.

Bamboo Bridge and Market

We did not do too much yesterday but wander around but it is so beautiful that it seems like enough.  We went to the famous bamboo bridge and walked around the huge night market.

 Lunch on the Mekong

The bamboo bridge only up in the dry season

It just goes on and on and on.  What a great place!  Tomorrow the proper tourism begins!

Luang Prabang, Laos

I am not sure what I expected in Luang Prabang, to be honest I had done so little research and had not even looked at one picture.  But the minute we got here I knew I would love it.  Small, beautiful architecture, on the Mekong, surrounded by rolling green hills, just our sort of place.  The place we are staying is fabulous, our room all done and wood and a huge balcony on the street with a view of the river.

We just love it here!
