Splash Water Park Fun

I love water parks and cannot believe it is been like 18 years since I have been to a proper one.  Well one of the Ecua family is a die hard water park person so we knew it was time to go.  I could not believe much better have water parks gotten and I think this one is just average.  We had so much fun and what a beautiful day!

A really lovely day that had us all tired, in bed early and ready for our little road trip today.

MiniEcuaFam Phuket

The Ecua reunion has moved to Phuket!  It is so good to be home with these guys and see Lola Cola.  The reunion is half the size it was in Bangkok but will more than double again next week.  It feels so normal to have these guys with us, the weather is unusually cooperating and we are just so happy to have them here.  I must also say that we are forever grateful to another couple of fantastic house sitters, Julie and Steve.  They certainly had the most challenging time here, as everything seemed to go wrong.  Lola got sick, the car stopped working, the washing machine broke, faulty electrics and rainy season weather. But we have things back on track, Lola is almost better, the car is working and the electrics on the mend, so the reunion can continue!

We have woken to a beautiful day and looking forward to our adventures today!

EcuaFam Bangkok 2017

My two years in Ecuador were pretty special not only did I meet Luis, my fabulous husband but I also made a pretty special bunch of friends.  A year ago we all left our lives behind in Ecuador to start new adventures and we have now come together again for a Thai adventure.  There are some key players missing but I am so thrilled to be with the ones that were able to make it.  We have had the best two days in Bangkok and now just about to head to Phuket to continue the adventures.

I just have a permanent smile hanging out with this bunch.  This is just the beginning of a beautiful few weeks together.  Let the good times begin!

The Food!

We are robbed living in Phuket! And if I had money and of course knew how to cook I would open so many restaurants now I have been to Bali.  Phuket has no funky veggie or vegan cafes or just anywhere with inventive with food.  Canggu had the most amazing restaurants and cafes with such fantastic food.  I literally arrived in Bangkok yesterday and tried to put on shorts that fit last week that now do not.  But it was worth it!  I cannot believe I have to return to boring old Phuket food.
My favourite breakfast (although not really meant for breakfast but I loved it), a veggie roti.  It was so delicious and they had so many great types you could try.
And the bowls, delicious mix of yummy healthy deliciousness, at every spot.
Okay, but this was my favourite.  This veggie wrap was just amazing.  Just amazing.
 Another bowl
Breakfast, avocado toast, pesto, feta, all delicious.  We had such a fabulous time in Bali and cannot wait to go back. It is such a huge island and we only just scratched the surface.  Each place we went was totally different and amazing in totally different ways.  I struggle to say which place was y favourite.  It is not often I think that I definitely need to go back to a place, but this is definitely one. Thank you Luis for a great holiday, I love you!

Bikes, Bats and Pups

Yesterday we got on our bikes and cycled the hills to get to a temple on the sea. At first I thought we made a huge mistake, fallen for the tourist trap which I hate! One million people all taking selfies of something they know nothing about just because some book or guide told them too.

 A million people

I took my picture, was totally unimpressed by the whole thing. Until...

...we came upon the most amazing fruit bat just hanging out. I have never seen anything like it, it was massive and

apparently quite excited to see us!  We spent some time with it and then headed back to blue skies and then went back to play with

...Indy. Our neighbours rescued this adorable puppy on the side of the road, looking very rough. If there was anyway I could take him with us I would. I have loved Bali but if we lived here we would end up with a hundred animals, which in fact would be just fine!

A beautiful evening, a beautiful sunset, a perfect end to another perfect day.

Canggu, Bali

We arrived yesterday to our third and final spot in Bali, Canggu. I was back and forth on which beach to chose for our last desaturation based on proximity to airport and reputation. Bali has some huge party towns which we wanted to avoided and also resort areas which we also did not want to be near. Our current wonderful house sitters suggested Canggu, a surfers beach with loads of veggie and vegan restaurants with loads of bars and cafes. Well we were not disappointed, our guest house is lovely, the beach beautiful and the options for food for a veggie is unlike I have probably ever had.

Tegalalang Rice Terraces

Today we got bikes to go to the Tegalalang Rice Terraces. Again, we were surprised that no one does this, there are loads of people that go but not on a push bike. We thought it is only 12km that is easy. What we did not know is it was 12km up, always up. Sometimes ridiculously steep and other times just a long painful gradient. But we made it, and the journey there was the most beautiful ride we have had yet. The rice terraces themselves was amazing, we were so happy we went. And the best thing about it being up all the way there is that it was down all the way back, so fun!

Lovely veggie lasagna!

It was spectacular. Today we go to our last destination in Bali. I cannot imagine that it can compare to Ubud and Amed but I keep saying that and am proven wrong every time. Ubud is so special and we cannot wait to visit again. The rice paddies surrounding the town are amazing, the architecture is stunning, the whole place just has this calming feeling.
