Nature Ranch

On Sunday we took Sebastian to a 'Ranch' in the North East of the island.  We made a date with some of his new friends and were pretty excited.  The drive there was beautiful and definitely the best part of the ranch.  I think they are working towards something but I was a little traumatized.  It all started with a dead turtle in the overcrowded turtle pen, a big dead bird in a cage, and some dogs on some very short chains.  As we were with some new people we tried to focus on the positives.  It was clear they had a lot of teenagers and children from the community there to help look after the horses and sheep (possibly they need to focus a bit more not he other animals as well), the horses looked well looked after and Sebastian had a lovely time playing with his new friends.

Probably not the best 'ranch' but being positive I hope they can turn it around!

Baby Doll Dinner

The South Coast of Barbados has this wonderful boardwalk that goes along a few kilometers of the South Coast sea.  It was always a great place for exercise and relaxation and since my last visit, it has turned into quite the entertainment spot.  There are loads of cool bars and restaurants that now line the boardwalk and I just love going there on an almost daily walk.  One of the new places is called Baby Doll and they hand down have the best pizza I have ever had.  On Thursday night 'New Acre' and 'Once Acre' went for supper. It was also a sort of bribery, as poor Craig must be dying to get rid of the guests that came to stay with him for two weeks... Almost four months later we are still here and navigating away to get to our new jobs in The Bahamas.

We are so thankful for Craig and his hospitality.  I am sure we will become a good story once we finally leave.  We will be those annoying family members who way overstayed their welcome!

And He's Off

Over the past few weeks, even months, Sebastian has taken a few steps and sad down.  I think the moment he realised he was not holding onto a hand he sat immediately.  This all changed on Tuesday, two weeks and 2 days before his first birthday.  He all of a sudden just felt brave and took a million steps all around the garden.  And since then he is unstoppable.  I have been warned loads about this time, apparently, it is when the real fun begins...

He is so fast the pictures are blurred.
He is pretty proud of himself and enjoying the new freedom that walking/running is giving him.  As always, proud parents.

Pre Birthday Days

The birthday lead up was so busy and I did not have even five minutes to write anything.  We had a nice few days.  Luis was super busy studying and I was busy painting decorations.  But we did manage a dinner out at Blakey's and Sebastian had his first Barbados play date!

Sebastian's new favourite toys
 The car seat daily fight

We meet this little boy, Jacob, and his mum on our daily walks.  They had their first official playdate.  Poor Sebastian still cannot go in the sea, so it was not the longest play date ever!

First Birthday Party

Yesterday was Sebastian's first birthday party we had it 18 days before his actual first birthday as are just were unsure when we are leaving.  I spent the last week getting ready for the big event, I love organising these things and for Sebastian I wanted it to be perfect.  The decorations turned out just how I wanted, we had a great turn out and Sebastian a wonderful day.

Kirra, my friend Julianne's daughter.  Sebastian was so happy to have someone his height (almost) there.

Lots of friends and family made this a special day. Sebastian got spoilt with lots of toys and new clothes.  A lovely day with two very proud parents.

The Crane, Barbados

Yesterday we had a day out at the Crane before Luis had to start back today on loads of work.  It was such a beautiful day and it was great to get out somewhere a little different. Unfortunately, we did not get down to the beach as it was full os seaweed.  Just a reason to go back another day!

We then stopped off at a house Craig was staying at in Foul Bay, just by the Crane for a quick dip in their pool.
