Paddle Board Lola

We had another great day in Krabi before we head off tomorrow to our favourite island,  Koh Lanta.  I love taking Lola on holiday and anyone who says that animals cannot express emotions should spend one with her.  She is so super duper happy to be spending all day and night with us, and loves her new little home and it is just such a joy to watch.  Today she was Queen of the paddle boards, at the front navigating our path.   She certainly impressed some Thai children who were rolling around with laughter watching her.

She loves her life jacket, she actually gets excited when I pick it up.

 Leading the way.

Finished with a well deserved relaxing time on the beach.
After a few hours rest we were out again to try and have a better dinner than last night.  Yesterday evening, due to panic hunger, we had the worst meal I have had since I have been in Thailand  It was by far the worst Indian I have ever had.
So tonight we had it all planned out, to avoid any hungry restaurant choosing I was back on the Trip Advisor.  Never again will I not trip advise before eating and what a find.  It was probably one of the best Indian meals we have ever had (Krabi has dozens of Indian restaurants here, not sure why but suits me just fine).

Krabi to Start the Holidays

Yippeee! Holiday time!  We were off this morning with a full car and a very happy Lola.  Our first stop Krabi, 37 degrees and busy busy.  But we managed to find the empty beaches and enjoy day one!

One of the great things about getting off our island and more specifically out of our 5km radius is food.  It is so nice to have different options and restaurants to eat at.  I wish I had taken a picture of my ridiculously delicious lunch, crazy yummy wrap.  Chances are I will be having the same thing tomorrow so will take a snap then :)

The Champs!!

Finally the Come Dine with me results were revealed! It was super close, with just one point between the second place draw and us the winners! Although, really it didn't feel like a victory as we were all winners having had such a great competition.

Our scorekeeper, Ginny, came to reveal the top prize.  Accompanied by her beautiful helper, Eloise (her daughter).
 The winners are finally revealed!

But the fun did not end there, as I had prizes and awards for everyone.
I can't really say what this one is!
 Best performance!
Most Disappointed in her food award!
Our trophy!!! What a fun competition, and great to get everyone trying some vegan food and enjoying it.

Sunny Saturdays

In trying to take more advantage of these sunny months we had a day at the beach yesterday.  Like a proper full day that we have not done for ages.  We are trying to break in Lola's life jacket for our paddle board trip during half term (coming up soon).  Surprisingly, Lola seemed to really enjoy her life jacket and was not bothered at all when we put it on.  She is already a good swimmer but think it gave her that little bit of extra confidence in choppy water.

She really just liked having it on.  Today we may head for a morning swim before I doing one of my least favourite activities, shopping.  Especially on a weekend with one million other people.

Friday Dixit

After what felt like another super long week it was great to unwind with the Lawson's, playing Dixit and having a dance.  Dixit is such a good game for all ages and I was so surprised about how creative and clever everyone but me is!  If you don't know the game, it really is a good one for all.

Love all these smiling faces and will be soaking up time with them in the next few months before they up and leave me for their next adventure.

Jacqui and Q

I had a lovely Sunday afternoon with Jacqui and Quinlan.  I finally went to a place that I hear loads about., Firefly   Good food, good price and the use of the pool for the day (pools usually do not appeal to me as I know they are full of wee, but hey ho and it did not disappoint.  Another scorcher of a day, so nice to have a pool (wee included) a step away.  We had a chilled afternoon putting the world to right.
All the toys, but what could be better than the sunblock to play with :)

To be fair this is the furthest I got in.  Just not into the water, which is funny as growing up you couldn't keep me out (guess I did my pool time).

And what a lovely surprise for lunch, loads of Amanda friendly food.  Loved this hummus grilled veggie pita pocket.

Feeling Hot!

As parts of the world continue to feel a deep freeze of crazy temperatures, it seems Phuket is doing just the opposite.  I just never remember it being so hot, and everything turning so brown.  Especially this early into the dry season.  But it is hot, even by my high hot standards.  I would hate to be stuck in Bangkok right now, where the heat combined with the crazy levels of pollution must be debilitating to say the least.  Luckily, we have the beach a few minutes down the road to try and combat the heat a bit, as certainly our house is no escape (no breeze and a lot of windows to heat up the place).

We had a lovely few hours on the beach, all of us went into the sea for a swim, a very rare occurrence.
We were then meant to go bowling and out to dinner with this fabulous couple, but bowling was closed.
So we just went straight out to eat.  A lovely Saturday, even if it ended with a broken down car and a taxi ride home.
